    Very good

    Good location

Our room wasn't ready until 3.25pm, when asked for compensation, we were told that 3.25pm was still a reasonable time. A paid drink at the bar would do the job... Furthermore, even the 3.00pm is an unusually late check-in time, in my view.

    Superb

The hotel has a B&B vibe, which is nice. The staff were friendly and were quick to respond when we told them our phone wasn't working. And they took care of arranging for our tour bus to pick us up at the hotel on the way to the bus station. The hotel is also nicely located at the end of the main street of shops and restaurants/pubs, but was just far enough away from the bus station to make it a longer walk than expected with rolling suitcases. The decor is bright and makes for a nice atmosphere.

Service at the bar on a Saturday night was less than ideal. It may not have been true, but it felt like they were avoiding the Americans with the swipe credit card.

The staff were brilliant. We honestly changed the booking so many times and they were so helpful. They were helpful in other regards as well. The decor is great and it's so central. Would def recommend staying in this hotel. Lovely bar and lobby area and also very child-friendly.

    Very good

Receptionist was chewing gum when I was checking in and she was on the phone chatting quite a while before she dealt with me. Parking is quite a distance away - but there was a 'set down' outside the door. Foyer was freezing when we sat for a drink but the barman noticed and offered to put on heating in February! Overall a hotel catering I think to a young crowd and hen nights - rooms were clean and staff overall were friendly.

    Fabulous

The overall feel of the hotel was very hip but still friendly. It had a great location for exploring Galway and the environs. The bed in our deluxe room was very comfortable.

Our room's bathroom was extremely cold (we were there in Febuary) which made the lovely tile floor almost unbearable to walk on. Also, there was no shower curtain, just a glass partition, and because the partition was not affixed to the top of the tub, when one would shower, water would just cascade onto the floor making quite a puddle.

    Superb

    Very nice staff. Great location.

I have stayed in The House Hotel the week before my last visit (both times had to stay a week for work). I was somewhat disappointed about the room I had on my second occassion relative to my first visit. In my first visit I had two quite comfortable chairs in my room which were very useful as I was working in the evenings on my laptop. This time around, the only 'chair' in the room was a wooden stump which was not remotely comfortable to sit on. Also relative to my first visit, the cleaners did not seem to replace used shampoo or wash lotion bottles!? Also unlike the first time there was also no conditioner provided for the entire week - admittedly a minor issue for me. In saying this, I would still recommend The House Hotel and complement the hard working staff there.

    Superb

I knew that it's location was excellent but I was impressed by the value and especially delighted by the service. It's sooooo lovely to have your breakfast served to you and to get eggs that have been cooked to order. Terrific.

The room was smallish. If we had been staying for more than one night we would have liked something a little more spacious. Clean and comfortable though.

    Very good

Lack of basic information in the room, eg check out time, breakfast times (we were told this at check in, but had to borrow a pen & write them down), location of thermostat (hidden by standard lamp), what to see & a map of Galway & surrounds (restaurants, bars etc) would have been useful. On our booking we were told we would receive 'a bathrobe & slippers for 2 persons' we did not get any.

    Very good

Great location close to Spanish Arch, but off the main street. Within 10 minutes walk of the railway station. Rooms are clean and modern, beds are comfortable. Staff are polite. Prices are reasonable compared to other older hotels located in less central parts of Galway.

Have stayed at the House Hotel four times. Generally cannot fault the location, price, or the comfort of the rooms. Unfortunately on two occasions the hotel was hosting private functions in the bar below the bedrooms, since there appears to be no dedicated function area elsewhere in the hotel. The rooms are poorly insulated, so the sound from the bar is clearly audible even two floors up. If the hotel concentrated on accommodation alone, I would highly recommend it. Unfortunately it is currently a lottery as to whether you will get a good night's sleep, or be kept awake until 3am.

The bedrooms were lovely. The shower was to die for. The reception area was very nicely styled. All of the staff that we dealt with were helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant, it was lovely. Desert even more so.

Loved it, only negitive thing, room was a little too warm. (But I'd rather a room be a bit warm versus a bit cold!)
